Like other dynamic systems, the supply chain is about to undergo fundamental transformation in the way it is sensed and operated. The catalyst is RFID.


The goal of supply chain design is obvious – achieve high customer satisfaction with minimal costs. Of late, this has become an increasingly difficult task. On the one hand, the increasing sophistication of customers has made customer satisfaction a more elusive goal. In the traditional view, all that was needed was a high level of service. Not only are customers seeking more responsive supply chains with an increasingly dynamic product mix, but also stricter assurances about supply chain performance, reliability, and traceability.
